Siemens Canada will supply wind turbines for a wind project in Goderich in southwestern Ontario.
Siemens Canada will also be responsible for installation and commissioning of the project being developed by Samsung Renewable Energy Inc., Capital Power and Pattern Energy Group LP.
The 270-megawatt (MW) K2 Wind project will be the largest wind farm in Ontario, generating clean power for approximately 100,000 Ontario homes. It will use SWT-2.3-101 wind turbines.
More than 1,000 workers from across Ontario will be involved in the manufacturing and installation of the K2 Wind project, as well as site construction and operations. Once operational, the project is anticipated to create up to 24 permanent full-time positions, generating $1.5 million of employment income annually.
Construction of the project is now underway with commercial operation expected by spring 2015.
