The Ontario General Contractors Association’s eighth Construction Symposium will focus on leading innovation.

The three day gathering at Blue Mountain Resort in Collingwood starts April 13 with a presentation about Gold Seal Certification by Stephanie Wallace of the Canadian Construction Association followed by a reception, dinner and show by comedian Doug Funk.

On Friday morning, there will be a variety of workshop options, including a discussion about the risks and liabilities of green building and an Infrastructure Ontario update. Other options include a presentation by WSIB and Ministry of Labour representatives discussing the transformation of the WSIB and Occupational Health and Safety system, managing construction risk after the Metron Construction conviction, and a presidents’ panel.

In the afternoon, participants will be able to choose from presentations on managing hazardous materials on projects and LEED IAQ credits, new insurance and surety products, a Canadian construction outlook and forecast, building information modelling education for contractors, construction arbitration and increasing roles of women in construction.

Friday evening wraps up with a reception, dinner and entertainment and awards with Mike Bullard, followed by additional presentations on Saturday morning.
