Whitchurch-Stouffville’s Bill Fisch Forest Stewardship and Education Centre has been awarded Living Building Challenge certification — the strictest sustainability standard in the world — by the International Living Future Institute (ILFI).

The building, which was designed by Dialog, met all seven performance areas of the Living Building Challenge (LBC). The centre is the first LBC-certified project in Canada and one of only 21 buildings achieving full LBC certification worldwide, according to the ILFI

To construct the greenest education centre ever built, Dialog amassed an expert team of architects, engineers, interior designers and others to design a building that would be net-zero energy, net-zero water and offer an inspirational learning environment for about 90 years.
