Recently, the Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA) honoured leadership and accomplishment among its membership with the presentation of awards at the 71st CHBA National Conference in Whistler, BC.

The Association and Sales and Marketing Awards honour the best of the best in the residential development and construction industry from across Canada. Two Waterloo Region Home Builders’ Association (WRHBA) members were recognized.

Douglas Stewart of Stantec Consulting ltd. won the CHBA Maple Leaf Award, presented by CHBA national president Bard Golightley at WRHBA’s Industry Luncheon event in April. Stewart has over 38 years of both public and private professional planning experience and Golightely said “with an attendance of over 640 people at this luncheon, this is a most fitting occasion in which to recognize Douglas for all that he has done for so many.

“Douglas is a consummate volunteer who single-handedly has provided hundreds of hours to countless issues at the local, provincial and national levels. His top-notch approach and level of expertise is impeccable and I can think of no one more deserving of this award and recognition from all of us assembled here today and from the industry at large.”

Kitchener’s Pioneer Craftsmen Ltd., a third generation local renovation company, received the Whole House Home Renovation Award, under $250,000, against some very formidable competition for their work on the “Cambridge Retreat”.
