Other dates include Ottawa on May 29 and Sudbury on May 31.

    The seminars will present a unique opportunity for OHMPA producer members and contractor representatives to learn the latest industry information that will impact their work in the coming year and to meet face-to-face with local Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and municipal representatives, as well as consulting engineers.

    This year’s seminars bring together the best minds in the industry to engage in conversation about what has been done and what can be improved upon to achieve the best quality roads for the province and its municipalities.

    Highlights from the Road Tour 2013 agenda include:

    • MTO reports on performance specification developments and other initiatives;
    • Susan Tighe, director for the Centre for Pavement and Transportation Technology (CPATT) at the University of Waterloo, will give her insights on Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP) and will share the latest results from the new RAP mix design study, funded in partnership with MTO and OHMPA;
    • OHMPA Technical Director Sandy Brown, will provide a Municipal Liaison Committee update and present on improving longitudinal joints and the pre-qualification process for contractors.

    “This year’s Road Tour seminars will provide attendees a terrific opportunity to meet owners and specifiers and discuss ways to continue to improve asphalt, Ontario’s number one choice in pavement,” said OHMPA executive director Doug Duke. “Everyone from contractors to consulting engineers will be able to engage in one-on-one conversations about issues and concerns in their respective regions. Having these conversations and getting the right information to the right people at the right time paves the way for success.”
