Happy Canada Day to the construction sector and your families! It is hard to believe we are past the mid-way point of the year and into July, sometimes time passes way too fast when you are busy working. Cheers to a safe and fun filled holiday!
What projects or challenges are you and company facing? This time of year, we start putting details together for our annual planning session scheduled in September and create the agenda. The usual things we will cover are a recap of the previous year for sales and expenses, review top stories of the year and other articles that engaged our readers. We will review our number of newspaper and magazine subscribers by market, website visitors and the growth of our daily and weekly email subscribers across Canada and the US. We will discuss expansion into new markets by reviewing where our readers come from in each market and target new products to meet demand and how to improve existing publications as well.
Does your company hold annual planning sessions with key staff members? Do you hold events in person or remote? Does your team lead the sessions or do you bring in outside consultants? We have done in-person and remote sessions due to family demands. We have had consultants lead sessions and other times lead by staff with each speaking to their roles and the departments of the company. Results from both have been about the same with the same goal of sharing ideas and implementing suggestions for growth and the overall improvement of the company. If you want to share what your company does for annual meetings and the follow up of the action items that comes from them, we would be happy to share your thoughts and ideas with our readers.
We are still accepting details on events your company or the associations you are members of are holding this summer for free editorial coverage. Events we can provide coverage on are Golf Tournaments, trade shows, BBQ’s, community sponsored events or other fundraising initiatives. You can email me details ahead of time and if a member of our team can come out, we will send them to get some photos and notes for free news coverage. If we cannot get a staff member out, you can always send a few photos and a write-up of up to 500 words for us to run.
