Based on my visits to local retail centres the past few days, the exodus of Summer has begun with the roll out of “Back to School” and Fall season themed items filling the shelves. Luckily, the warm weather will be still be here for a few more months helping the projects under way get closer to completion. Summer is still here for two more months, thankfully! Have you started to notice the seasonal switchover as well?

With the arrival of Fall, what projects or events are your associations and companies starting to plan? What events are returning for the first time in a few years (due to COVID-19) or do you have new ones launching this year? You can share the details with me and we can provide news coverage in the monthly magazine, daily newspaper or one of our many Ontario regional websites.

We have The Buildings Show on our radar for the first week of December and I am starting to fill in other events I am considering to attend for news coverage, photos for the daily newspaper and networking.

Things are hard to do with an 18-month-old daughter at home. The one thing I will be restarting this Fall will be more site visits and photos of projects. Key will be lots of snacks and Disney movies for the car rides. If your project will be breaking ground or reaching important milestones, send me details and we can provide news coverage.

My big project this Summer is that the 15th Annual Barrie Construction Association magazine wraps up by Aug. 15 and this issue is shaping up to be our biggest and best issue yet. If you work in Barrie or Simcoe County you should really consider this annual magazine that is accessible 365 days a year with the digital edition and the www.barrieconstructionnews.com website.
