Empire Roofing Corp. has provided its expertise to contribute to successfully construct the new CLAC facility in Cambridge.

Empire president Ken Gascoigne says his company was asked to provide a specification for an environmentally conscious, sustainable roofing system with a high thermal value and a long-term warranty and that was equally durable and easy to maintain.

“We were able to meet all of these requirements by installing a Firestone Building Products TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin) roofing system with an R Value rating 17.4.”

He says the installed ultraply TPO is highly resistant to tears, impacts, and punctures yet remains flexible to allow for building movement. The system’s flexibility also allowed for a rapid installation and will require little maintenance throughout its life.

“The light colour of the material will reflect the sun’s energy to help with the building’s cooling costs and as it contains no toxic or hazardous material, and is fully recyclable, it met the sustainability requirements of CLAC for this project.”

Gascoigne says he was honoured that his company, as a member of CLAC, was chosen as the installer on this project and he is proud because being selected recognizes his company’s enforcement of strict health and safety policies. “It also reinforced the team concept we have always felt when working with CLAC on any matter and our prioritization of employee satisfaction across our entire organization.”
