The Ontario Construction Secretariat’s (OCS) Future Building program, to encourage transitions or new construction careers, will take place in Ottawa on May 16 to 18.
The annual program, designed to “introduce young career seekers in grades 7 to 12, aboriginal youth, youth at risk and adults in career transition to the building and construction industry” provides an “interactive, hands-on experience using a variety of tools and techniques across many of the skilled construction trades,” OCS says in its promotional material.
Students will have the opportunity to learn about plumbing, crane operation, masonry, carpentry, electrical work, sheet metal work, and other trades.
OCS anticipates more than 7,000 students, teachers and staff will attend the event (in its 14th year) from throughout the province. Last year’s event was in London, ON.
