The Grand Valley Construction Association (GVCA) has issued an announcement urging members to join the GVCA Safety Group.
“WSIB has issued a list of firms that are at risk,” the association said in an announcement. “If they know about you, then it is just a matter of time before you get a visit from them. By joining the GVCA Safety Group, you not only develop a management system for your health and safety program, you also demonstrate to the WSIB that you are committed to the health and safety of your employees.”
The announcement says the GVCA has been a certified WSIB safety group sponsor for seven years. “In 2012 (based on 2013 audits), GVCA was the highest scoring group in Ontario with a score of 5.99 per cent out of a possible six per cent This resulted in a total rebate of $589,948 shared among 61 members.”
The safety group can provide members with rebates of up to six per cent of their WSIB premiums (a minimum $3,000 rebate), the association said. These incentives are “over and above any rebates or surcharges earned through the WSIB experience rating programs.”
Free information sessions have been scheduled at the GVCA office, 25 Sheldon Dr., Cambridge, on Monday, oct. 20 from 5 to 6 p.m. and on Tuesday Nov. 25 from 3 to 4 p.m. or 5 to 6 p.m.
In London, the meeting will occur at the London Chamber of Commerce boardroom, 244 Pall Mall St. #101, on Wednesday, Nov. 5 from 10 a.m. to noon.
