The Progressive Contractors Association of Canada (PCA) has launched “Let’s Get Building”, a national awareness campaign to work with government, industry, and Canadians to get some of Canada’s largest and most important energy and infrastructure projects built faster.
“Now is the time to build a stronger, more resilient and independent Canada by getting major energy and infrastructure projects built without further delay,” PCA’s president and CEO Paul de Jong said in a statement. “The sooner these nation building projects get underway, the sooner Canadians reap the rewards through new trading partnerships, good jobs and a more stable economy.”
PCA is urging parties during the federal election campaign to focus on getting major projects built.
“We look forward to working with governments, industry and Canadians to build projects that attract investment and strengthen communities in the face of global uncertainty,” PCA said, adding the campaign is needed now to:
Recharge Canada’s economy
- Building major energy projects, infrastructure and utility corridors, create thousands of jobs, increase energy production and trade, and enhance energy security—ensuring a stronger future for all Canadians.
Unite Canada through nation-building projects
- From pipelines and LNG to petrochemical facilities, renewable energy and mining expansion, fast-tracking major resource projects will attract investment, strengthen communities, and diversify trade partners.
Get projects to YES
- Canada cannot afford further delays or cancellations of vital projects. With global competition intensifying and U.S. tariffs threatening our industries, we must move forward with confidence—learning from past setbacks like Energy East and Northern Gateway.
Fix the regulatory process
- Canada’s slow and unpredictable project approval system hurts our competitiveness and global reputation. We need a faster, clearer, and more objective process to greenlight projects in the national interest—just as other countries do.
Ensure opportunity for all
- Nation-building projects should be built by the best teams—without exclusion. We stand for policies that ensure all qualified contractors and skilled workers can contribute to building Canada’s future.
“Let’s demonstrate to the world that our resource rich country can green light projects in the national interest through a clear, timely and objective approvals process,” said de Jong. “Let’s get building to instil a sense of strength and national pride. This is our moment to prove that we have the talent and determination to build a stronger Canada.”
