It is hard to believe how fast the month of May has passed and the official arrival of summer is only a few weeks away. As I write this column my daughter Aubrey is in the last few days of being an ambassador for the Niagara Children’s Centre 2025 Make it Shine campaign and is just about to hit $3,000 in donations. Thank you to all the clients who have run certificates of sustainable completion and other notices since September 2024, $1 from each will be donated to the campaign. I will provide a further update next month on the total amount we raised from all the ads, so stay tuned.

Here is the link for the campaign if you wish to make a last minute donation: Support Aubrey & Niagara Children’s Centre – Niagara Children’s Centre

This time of year, I am starting to plan out our summer day trips and activities for my daughter to keep her busy and engaged with her completing her first year of school in Junior Kindergarten. We have some local baseball games we are planning to attend with the Welland Jackfish who are a member of the Intercounty Baseball League, several evenings at the local drive-in, Monday nights she is playing Challenger Baseball thru the Niagara Children’s Centre, a concert at the Botanical Gardens in Burlington, local musical theatre production of the Lion King and then some nights at the dinner market in Pelham followed by a concert at the band shell. My wife is working on her list of activities now, so more will be added to our calendar.

If your company is having any early evening events during the week or things scheduled on a weekend please reach out if you would like coverage in the daily newspaper ahead of time to promote it. If my daughter and I are able to attend, Aubrey will be happy to take photos for follow up coverage afterwards as she has caught the photography bug this year.

Lastly, with the arrival of nice weather, how is your company taking advantage of this for your projects? Are you getting caught up or ahead of schedule? If you have taken any interesting progress shots of your projects you can send me an email with two or three photos and include details such as where the project is located, when it broke ground, the projected completion date and who are the main contractor or trades working on the project and we can run a free news article for you. You or the construction team do not need to buy ads for the coverage it is free.
