Last time I sat down to write this column the weather was a lot different than it is today. It was warm and the leaves had just started to turn. Today there are no more leaves and frost is on the ground.

With the current restrictions on large gatherings of individuals in place across the province as we continue to deal with COVID-19, I am curious to find out what your plans for celebrating the holidays with your employees this year?

The question of  “How to do it” will surely impact individuals with plans for the holidays beyond work and seeing clients, more importantly spending time with their expanded families. Our planning session this year was held over a couple days in three-hour blocks of time using Zoom, followed by a virtual lunch to replace group dinners.

I expect many families to connect over meals and opening gifts and celebrations via Zoom this year. Maybe we can do a virtual holiday lunch after our last meeting in December before a short break over the holidays. With clients you could schedule a virtual coffee meeting if you co-ordinate delivery through one of the many food app delivery services.

Share how you are planning to celebrate with your employees and also give back to your local communities this December and we could feature you not only in the monthly magazine but our daily Ontario Construction News. All you need to do is send me an email about the details of your event and I will co-ordinate your coverage with our editorial team. This coverage can be for your company or you can nominate someone from the construction sector. Please send photos as well for use in the newspaper.

Lets see how the next month goes for the industry and what events you have planned to celebrate with clients and staff.
