Consulting Engineers of Ontario (CEO) is inviting its member firms across the province to submit entries for the 2017 Ontario Consulting Engineering Awards. Project entered must have been completed to the client’s satisfaction in the period from Jan. 1, 2015 to Sept. 30, 2016.
The Ontario Consulting Engineering Awards were initiated in 2003 to recognize projects that have made significant contributions to improving the economic, social and environmental well-being of Ontario and around the world. The awards are considered to be the most prestigious honour in the province’s consulting engineering community.
CEO member firms may submit projects that involve other CEO members. Joint submissions involving non CEO members are acceptable only if the CEO member firm(s) did more than 50 per cent of the work and submit in their name.
Four Awards of Excellence will be given according to the firm sizes for projects completed either in Ontario or outside the province, provided they were managed by an in-Ontario office. Categories include firms with 1 to 50 employees, firms with 51 to 100 employees, firms with 101 to 350 employees and firms with more than 351 employees.
In addition, CEO will present the Awards of Merit in six categories, including Building Engineering and Science; Environment; Industry, Energy and Resources; Project Management; Studies and Research; and Transportation.
Finally, the Willis Chipman Award will be presented to the project that best demonstrates the important contribution of consulting engineering to improving the quality of life in Ontario.
There is no fee to submit an entry and member firms may submit up to five entries. The Notice of Intent to Submit must be emailed to dlee@ceo.on.ca by Friday Nov. 4. The deadline for final submission is Monday Dec. 5. More information on submission guidelines is available at www.ceo.on.ca.
