The Association of Consulting Engineering Companies-Ontario recognized infrastructure, sustainability and community-focused projects from across the province during the 2026 Ontario Engineering Project Awards gala held May 7 at Carmen’s Event Centre in Hamilton.

More than 300 representatives from government, municipalities, industry and the consulting engineering sector attended the annual event, which celebrated projects and organizations contributing to Ontario’s infrastructure and economic development.

“What a great evening celebrating Ontario engineering at the Ontario Engineering Project Awards with ACEC-Ontario,” said Windsor MPP Andrew Dowie. “These awards showcase the talent, teamwork, and innovation that keep our province building.

“Congratulations to all of this year’s winners, and especially to AECOM Canada for receiving the International Engineering Collaboration Award for the Gordie Howe International Bridge project. Very well deserved!

Three new award categories were introduced this year: the Municipal Impact Award, Humanitarian Award and International Engineering Collaboration Award.

“This year’s OEPA placed a strong emphasis on infrastructure projects and showcased just how impactful consulting engineers are—not only in delivering complex outcomes, but in building community, resilience, and opportunity across Ontario,” said Ryan Matthews, chair of the ACEC-Ontario 2025-2026 board of directors.

The Willis Chipman award, named after the first engineer in Canada, who pioneered the industry in Ontario, is awarded to the project that best demonstrates the value and importance of consulting engineering plays to improve the economic, social and environmental quality of life in Ontario.

Considered the most prestigious award and given independently, it was presented to EnVision Consultants Ltd. for the FESTI Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting Training Facility project in Peel Region. The project modernized the Fire Emergency Services Training Institute’s aircraft fire training facility, which serves firefighters from around the world.
