Toronto-based TBD Telecom By Design Inc. applies its cabling and telephony expertise to assist clients across Canada with initial installations of telephone systems, hosted VoIP, structured data cabling for new projects, relocations and ongoing service requests. The telecom and IT hardware installation company opened its doors in 2008 with a start- up team with more than 20 years of previous industry experience.
The company continues to grow with requests for support for private projects from the industry, and a desire to do honest and transparent work. “TBD has evolved from those days and now is involved with design-build projects and with a range of clients that includes school boards, industry, provincial government departments and national commercial chains,” said project co-ordinator Dave Machotka.
He says TBD is brought in at various stages including initial design requirements, RFP consulting and at the final commissioning stage. “This means we’ve worked with everyone from general contractors to interior designers to ensure a project’s success at whatever stage we are involved.”
Machotka says the company provides initial installation of data cabling, structured cabling and telephone systems and works closely with electrical companies and general contractors. “We have an advantage over many other companies though because we have strong and long relationships with local companies and associations which allows us to complete work together prior to the client moving in to ensure a seamless move.”
He says the company has successfully completed projects across Ontario, in British Columbia, Alberta and the U.S. through its direct staff of 10 full-time employees and network of sub-contractors which allow TBD to be as nimble as needed to complete each project.
“At our core we are a small company. We are small enough to still be accessible and available to react to our clients’ needs. Our size then allows us to adjust accordingly.”
Machotka says the company’s full-time staff have employment security to enjoy their work, commit to the company and promote doing what is best for the company and its clients. “Our company is based on diversity and on fair wages. We offer internal education and recertification programs to ensure our staff are well trained and continue to be certified.”
TBD began using DataBid services in 2013. Machotka says he had tried other services but found that DataBid combined the individual features of several other options into a single time and money saver.
