Happy New Year from my family and the staff of the Ontario Construction News. I hope that you, your family, co-workers and friends are all well and are taking time to reflect on what you are all thankful for in 2023.
Two years ago at this time, I was living at Ronald McDonald House in Hamilton with my wife, while our newborn daughter was in the NICU at McMaster Children’s Hospital. We would there until mid-April. She spent her first three months on Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy to help with chronic lung infection, then came home with a G-Tube for formula feeding by pump until September.
She has been a warrior since day one and been working hard with physio therapy since her Cerebral Palsy diagnosis in early 2022.
I am thankful for some great clients who were flexible in meeting times and calls to work around my afternoon shifts at the hospital with my daughter. And I am thankful for a great team at work who offered support. Now looking ahead for 2022, I am hoping for an end to COVID-19 and things getting back to normal.
