With the threat of tariffs and the volatile political environment being pushed by US President Trump a campaign across the country to “Support and Buy Canadian” for products and services is being embraced by Canadian consumers. The construction sector is next up with the challenge to find Canadian products and services to replace those from the US.
It will be interesting to see if the construction sector takes up the fight like other Canadians who are cancelling US vacations, trips and regular shopping and choosing destinations at home and across the country. Looking ahead I have seen several construction associations who have US based conferences still on the calendar for 2025, will they take a stand and move these back to Canada? The same challenges go for those who run certificates of substantial completion (Form 9s) and other notices on a daily basis who are still choosing a U.S. owned and operated provider over our daily construction newspaper, Ontario Construction News.
With the Ontario Construction News, we can set you up with next business day publishing, no need to upload the forms online if you do not want to, our admin team will take care of everything from proofing to publishing and as always we offer free republishing even if the mistake was yours on the original form submitted. On top of that $1 from each order is being donated to the Niagara Children’s Centre to help children with special needs, just like my four-year-old daughter Aubrey who has Cerebral Palsy has been able to get support for her specialized equipment (wheelchair and walker), transitioning with the start of school this year and ongoing physical therapy support.
As someone in marketing and communications, have you reviewed the publications you are currently running ads to promote your company and have you identified if they are Canadian owned and operated? If you are looking for Canadian owned and operated magazines we can certainly help with Ottawa Construction News serving Eastern Ontario, Ontario Construction Report covering the entire province and the national newsletter and magazine Canadian Design and Construction Report (CADCR).
If you decide to review and make changes to your agreements with US owned and operated publishers, I can offer you an additional month of free advertising with any new campaign you launch with us. This offer is valid to any new clients that start any new campaigns between March 1 and the end of the year. The special promo code to use is “I Support Canada 2025”. For example, if you book a six-month package, you will get seven in total and only pay for six.
If your business is Canadian owned and operated and have seen a positive uptake in orders for your products and services, you are invited to submit media releases and even guest articles to share your success and even the challenges you face. Any questions, simply email me at chase@ontarioconstructionnews.com.
