Publishers Viewpoint — Fall’s arrival

September has come and gone and so has the warm weather of summer with the arrival of Fall and October. As I write the column there was no smooth transition between the seasons; one day hot the next day cold. I am holding out hope that we will see a few more days of warm weather as the month progresses.

As seasons begin to change from hot to cold, the number of construction industry events begins to grow. We are in the final planning stages of getting things organized internally for The Buildings Show Nov. 30 to Dec 3 at the Toronto Convention Centre. For me the dates are little more stressful to attend with my wife’s birthday on Dec. 2 and my daughters’ on Dec. 3. I will be looking to attend the show Wednesday and Thursday for sure, with Friday open at this point so I get home in time for some birthday celebrations.

As part of our set-up this year we are looking at running a photo booth with one of our photography partners where you will make the headlines and be featured on a mock up of the daily newspaper and get a business headshot sent to you via email. We will also have a door prize, which is still being discussed internally. Stay tuned for more details as they become available ahead of the show over the next several weeks.

Are you returning to the show this year as a visitor or exhibitor? After COVID-19 made the event virtual in 2020 and with the limited attendees last year just as things opened, I am hopeful for a more successful show this year with increased foot traffic.

If you are attending as an exhibitor, we can feature you in any of our daily newspapers leading up to and during the show. I would like to extend a special $995 promotion for Nov. 30, Dec. 1 and 3 for $995 where you will be featured in the daily newspaper and the monthly magazine, two publications for the price of one. You also get a quarter page ad and two months of website banner ads. There are limited spots open, so do not wait.
