What a year it has been with COVID-19 and adapting to a new work environment. On the business side of things, they have been great.  At the first year anniversary, Ontario Construction News, Ontario’s first daily digital construction newspaper reached a milestone of publishing more than 1,200 Certificate of Substantial Performance (CSP) notices as its daily daily readership grew by thousands.

With the successful launch of the daily, we slowly phased the GTA Construction Report content and advertisers to the provincial edition and the response has been great. With the daily newspaper, we have been able to report on industry news faster and highlight how the industry is rebounding from the impact of COVID-19 with the evolution of safer site practices, remote training and virtual events.

Our office had transitioned working from home several years ago so we have been working remotely successfully. With COVID-19, we have evolved from the traditional teleconference to Zoom meetings and are now planning on using the videoconference system for our planning session later this year that would traditionally been done in person.

With new food delivery services available in our remote offices in Barrie, Ottawa, Gatineau and myself in Fenwick in the Niagara Region, we will also be having a Zoom lunch together.

I invite our readers to share how they are finding ways to succeed and recover from COVID-19 in staging industry events, meeting your team for projects and working on the job site. Send me your media releases and industry news for our editorial staff.

Please also share details for your industry events that are scheduled for remote experience or live in person for coverage in the magazine and newspaper.
